mommy you say it…

Saturday morning and I make the mistake of asking the kids do you want pancakes, eggs, omelets, oat meal, bananas or apples.  Us Moms know this was too many choices but what was I thinking…I needed to get in the shower and wanted them to think about something while I was in there.

As I am sure you all can ask when I come out of the shower, they say we’ll take one of everything. Yeah no you won’t, you’ll get an omelet!  And voila, one for each kiddo…and seconds were a must!

Yep, you read that right!!!!  I am back on the blogging as a mommy scene.  Look for posts, tweets, stories, funnies, boring tales, you name it! 

This is what Alexa just asked me…..my answer was No!

Started off with Alexa being a bit sad and not wanting to go to school..that in itself is not completely out of the norm but what came next was. She was a little sad about something going on at school with another student and for the first time in my Mommy career, I needed to step in and try to solve a problem for her with a teacher. I left her at school and was genuinely nervous for her and had hoped that my talking to the teacher was going to help.

Fast forward several hours, Nate and I were at the park and I got a call from Alexa’s school saying that she has a fever and needs to go home. We rushed off to school and picked the big girl up, I was not convinced that she was indeed ill but we headed home. PJs on, orange juice served, Arthur on the tv and there she sat until I noticed her cheeks were bright red….out came the thermometer. Into the mouth and the thing jumped to 103.3 and started to creep higher. I took it out of her mouth and said we must have done something wrong…gave it a shook and stuck it back in. The result- 104.1 degrees. I was shocked, I have heard of a temp that high but have never actually seen it. Down went the tylenol and the fever check was in force. Every 15 minutes I checked it and by dinner time it was a nice 99 degrees.

Alexa is home from school today and doing just fine but it was a wild day yesterday from start to finish! Now we are on Tuesday!

I must be honest, I am not sure what I want this blog post to be about. All I know is that I want to post one because I said I would do better at posting, but frankly is that what this is all about? Just writing to write and not writing because I really want and have something to share? Oh the dilemma!

I had a sweet friend ask me today for a link to my blog…I gave it to her of course but a sort of sad feeling came over me. I started this blog to recount all the little things that happen in our lives, a fun record for my children to read in many years to come, but I fell short. I have not written anything here in 2 months…not because my kids have not done anything cute or fun or worth writing but I guess because I did not make it a priority. Isn’t that the way it is with all things? you do what you make a priority and priorities are most often what you enjoy doing? I want this Blog to be a priority, something I enjoy. I think my kids will really, really enjoy reading it when they are in their 30’s and see that Nate used to love tooting on his sister’s face and that Alexa broke her glasses when she was 6 and has the most prominent raccoon eyes imaginable! and not to mention that Aly just got 2 teeth and is about to crawl. So with that said or written, I will do better.

This morning’s event between Alexa and Nate? Nate pours the sand in his shoes on her head. Why? it should be no surprise he did not have an answer.

Well not everybody, me! Yep, Mommy is cleaning again. Laundry folded and put away, dishes out of the dishwasher, Nate’s closet, Nate’s room and finally Alexa’s room. In the middle, nursed Aly to sleep….

and Alexa’s room is filled with paper, paper and more paper. She has at least 10 trees in her room.
I just ditched some of it, will she notice is the question!

gotta run..Little Girl’s 15 minute nap is over!

I was really hoping that I would be adding a new blog post each day. As you can see I did not do that but next week is another week and I can try again! Our week has been a tad long as harvest is still in full swing which means our Daddy does not come home until about 7 in the evening which is just before the kiddos go to bed. In fact it is Sunday early afternoon and Paul is once again at the winery.

The kiddos and I took some pictures earlier today in hopes of finding one that will make the perfect Christmas card. That can always be a challenge. Here is a a teaser picture. I think I might have actually gotten a couple good ones!

Today’s fight between Alexa and Nate went something like this..

Alexa: You get what you get and you don’t throw a fit.
Nate: actually, it goes You get what you get and you don’t get upset.
Alexa: No, it doesn’t
Nate: yeah, my way rhymes
Alexa: well it does not matter..
Nate: yes it does

continued in that manner for close to 10 minutes.
